The State’s volunteers are urged to have a say in the future shaping of volunteering in NSW.

Volunteers across the State have an opportunity to have a say in what volunteering will look like for NSW in the future.

Local volunteers are urged to come forward and participate in the consultation process as part of the NSW Government’s Ministerial Volunteer Taskforce.

Volunteers are the backbone of all communities.

Their contribution to supporting the community is immeasurable Minister for Families and Communities and Minister for Disability Services, Natasha Maclaren-Jones established the Ministerial Volunteer Taskforce to identify emerging trends, issues and opportunities across the sector.

“The Ministerial Volunteer Taskforce is looking at the future of volunteering and I hope this consultation period will bring in as many voices as possible to help shape the future of the sector,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

“We deeply value the efforts of our volunteers and their incredible spirit of service.

“Every day our State volunteers work selflessly to contribute to the community and support others.

“We want to make sure they are well-supported, recognised and empowered.”

Chair of the Ministerial Volunteer Taskforce, the Hon. Scott Farlow MLC has called for all areas of the volunteer sector to take part in the consultation process.

“Hearing from the sector is vital,” Mr Farlow said.

“From volunteers and volunteer-involving organisations to businesses that work with the volunteering sector, researchers and academics, we want to ensure all volunteers are heard.

“The consultation process will contribute to the Taskforce’s report that will examine a range of topics, including volunteer recruitment, retention, research, recognition and supporting our volunteers.”

The Ministerial Volunteer Taskforce consultation phase opened on September 2 and will run until 5 pm on September 30.
