Tim Hodge Visits Home Town Kings Langley
Aussie Paralympian Tim Hodge dropped in on 1st Kings Langley Scouts, where he was once a member, and shared his success with the young Cubs after he returned from the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.
Home from the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, and toting some well-earned bling, swimmer Tim Hodge has visited his former home town.
While there he dropped in on 1st Kings Langley Scouts, where he was once a member.
Tim reminisced about his time as a member of 1st Kings Langley, explaining how his parents encouraged him to take up different sports after having part of his right leg amputated at the age of four.
Swimming became his passion.
Tim explained that he does about 36 hours of training each week, in addition to his university studies and showed some of the medals he had received at national and international swim meets.
The Cubs were impressed with his Paris medals - two gold and a silver - each containing a small chunk of metal from the original Eiffel Tower.
Assistant Cub Scout Leader Brendan Richards said Tim’s visit drew an enthusiastic reaction from the group.
“His audience was fascinated and enthused by his stories,” Brendan said.
“Tim joined the group’s Joeys section and progressed through to scouts before moving on.
“We’d all followed his successes in the Paris Paralympics and were keen to invite him back.
“Tim told the group Scouts had made him a better person and that his experience as a patrol leader taught him a lot about leading.
“He also had some good advice for the group and the wording comes from on his website - “Just try your best.”
