The Good Side Of Disaster
If there is any shining light in this devastating flood event it has to be the community pulling together with the help of the Australian Defence Force and emergency services personnel and volunteers.
Times of great tragedy can bring out the best in people.
We’re seeing that in the Hawkesbury right now with emergency services and Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and volunteers.
Around 200 ADF personnel are on the ground having a huge impact on flood clean up at the moment.
Anyone with flood-related jobs, including damaged goods to be removed from their home, or moved to the pavement, should contact the Hawkesbury Council and log a job.
Since last Friday, NSW RFS Hawkesbury Catering Brigade have been feeding around 700 personnel from NSW RSF, ADF and SES at the Oakesville Staging Area through the mammoth flood recovery operation on both sides of the Hawkesbury River.
The group has also thanked Woolworths Windsor for donating groceries and drinks, Hawkesbury Helping Hands for delivering food items and treats for the emergency services crews and NSW RFSA for sending the coffee van over the weekend.
Thanks also go to the families of volunteers for sharing their loved ones with the greater community.
