Fortune favours the brave or so they say
But what would you do differently to change yesterday?
The choices you made were good at the time
And you never moved forward looking behind
For whatever you did – good or bad
Be thankful you did – rather wishing you had
To get where you are now – no matter what level the scale
Is success in itself – and you didn’t fail
Your time on the grind was well worth while
The sadness, the sorrows and of course the smiles
Youth, adolescence, adulthood went by
Now age is a reminder of how time flies Regrets you may have – but really a few
When you add up your blessings
They’ll be more than one or two
Youth knows no difference
From pounds to dollars-shillings to cents
But when you travel through life’s time tunnel
Many things you learn enlarge the funnel
You’re a world of knowledge – you can be sure
A library of words couldn’t reach your score
When life gets you down – and you sometimes feel sad
Remember the good times – and the fun that you had
The history lessons taught in schools today
Are about the times you lived through and the dues you paid
Blessed are those who reach old age
A living monument for all to gauge
While life’s small luxuries may have passed you by
Be proud of the fact that at least you tried
Today’s senior citizens are tomorrow’s history lesso
