Temporary emergency care is available at St John of God Hospital in North Richmond. A specialist Medical Assistance Team formed at the service centre on March 24 to provide emergency support and care.

Two emergency medicine and retrieval specialists, two paramedics, two registered nurses and one logistician are estimated to be stationed at the hospital into April, depending on community needs and access to important roads in the region.

The hospital facility is only accessible to high priority emergency care services including essential emergency department care diagnosing, treating acute and urgent illnesses and injuries.

Non-urgent cases being redirected to the local GP services and pharmacies that remain open in North Richmond.

NSW Ambulance's State Manager of Health Emergency Response Capability and Countermeasures, David Koop stated the primary focus for the team is to provide temporary high-level care to unstable patients and to coordinate evacuations by air if required.
