Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation breaks its own record for money raised for kids’ health, with $89.4 million dollars for the 2022/23 financial year.

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) broke its own fundraising records, raising an incredible $89.4 million to support sick children and their families.

The previous record was more than $76 million raised last financial year.

The outstanding amount came from 35,600 donors, with funds directed straight to the frontline and future of kids’ health across Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, including The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick, Bear Cottage, the Newborn and paediatric Emergency Transport System (NETS), and Kids Research.

CEO of SCHF, Kristina Keneally said it was remarkable that the community of New South Wales had been so passionate and willing to get behind the kids’ health in such an amazing way over the last financial year.

“The impact that these funds will have on all kids across our state and beyond being cared for by Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network will be extraordinary,” Ms Keneally said.

“Over the last year, we have exceeded our expectations across all our fundraising activities, including our world record-breaking $19.2 million success at Gold Dinner and $15.8 million for last month’s Sydney Sick Kids Appeal.

“We’re very proud that we’ve been able to do that in challenging economic conditions, and we owe it to the dedication of our incredible Movement of Many.”

Despite increasing interest rates and cost-of-living pressures, SCHF shows year-on-year growth in individual giving.

Small donations from everyday Australians and community fundraisers totalled more than $8.4 million, despite a nationwide trend of decreased donations in the individual giving sector.

Generous Australian philanthropists have played a massive role in SCHF’s success.

Ms Keneally said they were constantly focused on how they could raise more funds that would help take their children’s health services across NSW from the expected to the extraordinary.
