Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman and Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Matt Keogh met with veterans and their families to discuss a Veterans and Families Hub for Hawkesbury recently.
A state-of-the-art, one-stop-shop for easy access to government services and health and well-being supports for veterans was the topic of discussion in Windsor recently.
Member for Macquarie, Susan Templeman and Minister for Veterans’ Affairs met with local veterans and their families to discuss their needs and hear from them on a wide range of issues.
Ms Templeman thanked the veterans and their families for taking time out to be part of the talks.
“It’s exciting to be starting the discussion about our Veterans and Families Hub, here in the Hawkesbury,” Ms Templeman said.
“The Department of Veterans Affairs will go through a detailed consultation process to ensure that this one-stop-shop offers the shorts of services that veterans and their families see as a priority.
“Already, things like mental health services, employment support and support in going through DVA application processes have been raised, but the final specifications for the tender of the service will need to be thoroughly worked through.
“Every hub is different and designed to suit its local community needs, and it’s worth remembering that veterans may still be serving in the military when their families across services.
“This facility is designed to be a long-term solution, so we need to get it right.
“The government’s aim is to have the new hub completed by mid-2025, but we would expect it to start delivering services to veterans and families before then.
