Explore texture on a self-portrait and learn confidence, focus and creativity through drama.
If you haven’t yet sorted out what to do with the kids during the school holidays, Hawkesbury Library, Museum and Gallery may just be what you’re looking for.
From giant games, self-portraits and full-moon dramas, they have a range of fun programs to keep everyone entertained.
All activities are designed for school-aged children, but an adult must accompany those under the age of 10.
Bookings are required for most events and some incur a small fee.
Library workshops will be held at Hawkesbury Central Library, Ground Floor, Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street, Windsor and bookings are essential.

From Monday, September 25 to Sunday, October 8, you can drop into the library during opening hours to play different giant games for free, including chess, snakes-and-ladders and connect 4.
Stacey, from Take A Bow, will introduce fun and engaging drama activities to build confidence, focus and creativity on Tuesday, September 26 from 10 am to 11 am for children aged between 5 and 12 years. This workshop costs $5 and bookings are essential.
Cardboard City will help children create a city with a range of recycled materials, cardboard and paper on Wednesday, September 27 from 2 pm to 4 pm for children aged five and older for the low, low price of $2. Bookings are essential.
On Thursday, October 5 from 2 pm to 3:30 pm, children aged 10 and older can learn how to fold cardstock to create a never-ending, infinity card and decorative chatterbox. This workshop costs $5 and requires a booking.
End both holiday weeks with a free movie. That is Friday, September 29 and October 6 from 2 pm to 3:30 pm, with bookings essential. Bring your own snacks and drinks and relax while you watch a new release DVD. Call the library or check the full details on Eventbrite.
Museum activities will take place at Hawkesbury Regional Museum, 8 Baker Street, Windsor.

Full Moon Workshop - Thursday, September 28 from 10 am to 11:30 am. Did you know that the moon is 96.7 per cent full on this day or that a cater on the moon is named after the famous Windsor astronomer, John Tebbutt? Children from 5 to 8 years can explore lunar facts like these in a workshop and make a moon phase spinner for just $15. Bookings are essential.
Build a Weather Station - Thursday, October 5 from 10 am to 11:30 am, children aged between 9 and 12 years can follow in renowned local scientist, John Tebbutt’s accurate study of Windsor’s climate over 50 years and learn how to track the weather and make their own weather station to take home, including a rain gauge, barometer and weathervane. The workshop costs $15 and bookings are essential.

Wednesday, September 27 from 10 am to 11:30 am, children aged 5 to 8 years will create an imaginative and distinctive character or version of themselves, inspired by the exhibition Liam Benson: Virtue Without Stain as they add texture and colour to their self-portrait. Workshop costs $15.
Wednesday, October 4 from 10 am to 12 noon, children from 9 to 12 years will make their mark in textiles as they create their own wearable works of art using simple embroidery techniques with beads and sequins. This felt brooches and badges workshop costs $15.
