Share Your Experience With Flood Insurance
Local residents impacted by this year’s floods are invited to share their stories in a new research project by Macquarie University.
Has your business been affected by the Hawkesbury floods?
Did you have a good or bad experience accessing flood insurance?
Or is flood insurance too expensive for your business?
Hawkesbury Chamber was invited to make submissions to the parliament’s Flood Insurance Inquiry yesterday, May 9.
Members who have, since 2002, made a successful or unsuccessful flood insurance claim are asked to provide their feedback - whether good or bad so that the powers that be can advocate for the flood-affected region.
The Inquiry seeks to hear about:
- The experiences of insured parties in making claims;
- Timeframes and obstacles in making claims;
- Insurer communications;
- If expert or hydrology reports were needed and the ease with which these were obtained;
- Insurance affordability;
- Any experiences with insurers’ dispute resolution processes.
If any member businesses (or non-member Hawkesbury businesses) would like their story known.
All feedback provided by Tuesday, May 7 will be included in the submission to the Inquiry.
Alternatively, flood-affected parties had opportunity to complete a survey directly to the Flood inquiry.
Individuals could also request to personally attend the Inquiry and tell their story.
Details for the Inquiry, including links to the survey and how you can apply to personally participate can be found below.
