Share At Glossodia Giving Tree
Drop in to Glossodia Takeaway, pick up a tag from the Giving Tree and donate a gift for a child in need within our community.
Give back this season at Glossodia Takeaway, home of the Glossodia Community Centre’s Giving Tree.
Glossodia Takeaway’s Renata said they started hosting the Giving Tree when the team at Glossodia Community Centre asked them to have the tree in their store.
“We said we would be because it’s a community-based service and it’s all about paying it forward,” Renata said.
“Plus, we’re open seven days a week, long hours.
“Last year was amazing and this year is going to be, too.
“The Giving Tree has been up now since last Wednesday (November 13) and already half of the tags are gone.
“The community out here is absolutely beautiful.”
With the rising cost of living, life is tough for a lot of people.
“I learned a lot last year,” Renata said.
“I thought it was mainly local people who were benefiting but it’s people all over NSW.
“Last year, I had the opportunity to go out with them to distribute the gifts.
“It was mind blowing.
“It’s a whole different perspective.
“It’s great to pay it forward and give back.
“You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on a gift; just what you can afford.”
Renata said she had people come up and speak to her throughout the year.
“They ask if we’re going to have the giving tree again,” Renata said.
“I explain it’s the Community Centre’s tree.
“Older people are making things and they get really excited about it.”
Renata said that outside of Christmas, the Glossodia Community Centre was always giving to those in need within the community.
“You can see how they are trying to engage the community,” Renata said. “And they’re doing a great job.”
Head down to Glossodia Takeaway and check out the Glossodia Community Centre Giving Tree, take a tag and donate a gift to the children and families staying at your town this Christmas by Tuesday, December 17.
