When advised that it was the “one to watch” thanks to its high contributions to the Pink Bun campaign, held right across Australia, the Bakers Delight Richmond Mall team was humbled.
Part owner and manager Sanjay Shrestha said it was incredibly gratifying for the bakery and its staff to able to give back to Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
“It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and it fills us with pride to know that our efforts are making a tangible difference in supporting BCNA,” Mr Shrestha said.
“The campaign brings a sense of camaraderie and purpose to our workplace, boosting morale and fostering a sense of pride in our collective efforts.”
BCNA is Australia’s leading consumer breast cancer organisation and supports all those affected by breast cancer diagnosis.
“Several members of our team have a personal connection to breast cancer - whether through family, friends, or their own personal experiences,” Mr Shrestha said.
“These connections serve as a personal motivator for us to participate wholeheartedly.”
Mr Shrestha credits the commitment of their bakery team, who take pride in baking Fun Buns.
“Our success to date in achieving good results for the Pink Bun campaign can be attributed to several factors; first is our team’s unwavering commitment to the cause, and our community drives us to go above and beyond each year,” he said.
He also credits the generosity of the local community.
“In our local community the campaign serves as a rallying point for raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection and support,” Mr Shrestha said.
“It brings people together in a spirit of solidarity and compassion, uniting individuals from all walks of life of life in the fight against breast cancer.”
BCNA and Bakers Delight have partnered for 24 years, with Bakers Delight raising an incredible $25 million for BCNA in that time.
The relationship offers an excellent example of what business and charity can achieve together.
BCNA CEO Kristen Pilatti said they were incredibly grateful for the franchisees at Bakers Delight.
“The way they give back, get behind the campaign, pink up their stores, encourage their staff,” Ms Pilatti said.
“That ongoing support and partnership is something that we don’t take for granted.”
Bakers Delight bakeries across the nation will begin baking their limited-edition Fun Buns to support BCNA and all Australians affected by breast cancer.
During this time 100 per cent of the sales from every Fun Bun or Fun BUn 6-pack sold will be donated to BCNA to help it continue to provide Australians affected by breast cancer with the very best information, treatment and support.
Bakers Delight Joint CEO, Elise Gillespie said the Pink Bun campaign was something she and franchisees around the country looked forward to each year.
