Windsor RSL sub-Branch will conduct Remembrance Day Commemoration services in three locations on Saturday, November 9 and Monday, November 11.

Since November 11, 1919, we have joined together as a nation to remember our fallen heroes - first as Armistice Day and now as Remembrance Day.

Windsor RSL sub-Branch Secretary Leon Walker said they would conduct Remembrance Day Commemorations on behalf of the Hawkesbury community at:

  • Colo River War Memorial - Saturday, November 9 from 9 am;

  • Freemans Reach War Memorial - Saturday, November 9 from 11 am; and

  • Windsor McQuade Park Hawkesbury Cenotaph - Monday, November 11 from 10:55 am.

“All are most welcome to join us on this special day of National Observance,” Mr Walker said.

These Remembrance Day commemorative services are very important because remembering should be an active pursuit.

Some of us have a relative or ancestor who has served in the military, and this personal connection makes it easier to remember.

For those of us without a personal connection, we can think of the people who have donned our Australian Defence Force uniforms over the years and fought for our freedoms.

We remember so that we don’t forget those that didn’t get the opportunity to grow old.

It is an act of will - “We will remember them... Lest we forget.”
