Landcare-Grants

Woolworths and Landcare Australia will present over 300 primary schools and early learning centres with grants of $1,000 each in coming weeks.

Woolworths and Landcare Australia have partnered once again to award over 300 grants of up to $1,000 each to support outdoor learning projects at primary schools and early learning centres across NSW.

Each grant will help bring a new creative idea to life, or grow an existing project, that focuses on sustainable food production, improving waste management practices or enhancing native habitats.

Among the schools to receive a grant this year are Sydney University Early Learning Hawkesbury and Richmond Preschool.

Local Hawkesbury Woolworths store teams will present each recipient with a certificate in the coming weeks, visiting local Hawkesbury primary schools and early learning centres to hear about their plans for each grant.

Woolworths Hawkesbury Operations Manager Katrina Chung said it was great to see local schools from across Hawkesbury being awarded grants as part of this year’s program.

“There’s lots of creative ideas that’ll get students outdoors and hands-on with nature,” Ms Chung said.

“We’re looking forward to seeing these ideas come to life in the next few months.”

The Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants program has supported 1,963 primary schools and early learning centres across NsW.

Landcare Australia CEO, Dr Shane Norrish said the Woolworths Junior Landcare Grants had always been about bringing sustainability into classrooms across NSW, and teaching children how to care for the environment around them.

“There’s to Woolworths hundreds of NSW schools have been able to further support environmental champions and support Hawkesbury students to develop hands-on skills that they can take with them when they leave school,” Dr Norrish said.
