Nominations remain open for three statewide awards to recognise the outstanding efforts of Crown land volunteers and councils who manage thousands of public reserves across NSW on behalf of their communities.

Do you know a dedicated Crown land volunteer, volunteer board or local council that goes above and beyond in managing a Crown reserve? Now is the perfect time to acknowledge them by nominating them for a NSW/ACT Community Achievement Award.

In partnership with Awards Australia, Crown Lands in the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure supports three categories of the annual awards, including:

  • Individual Excellence in Crown Land Management Award for outstanding individuals who as a member of a Crown land manager board or committee demonstrates dedication in the management of a Crown reserve for their community;
  • Crown Land Management Excellence Award for a voluntary Crown land manager board for outstanding community service involved in the care, control or management of a Crown reserve; and
  • Council Crown Land Manaagement Excellence Award recognises a Council that has demonstrated outstanding service in the management of a Crown reserve for their community.

Minister for Lands and Property, Steve Kamper said there were many Crown land managers who were worthy of receiving an award.

“There are thousands of Crown land reserves across the state with a range of volunteers and local councils playing their part in maintaining and improving public land and assets for their local communities,” Mr Kamper said.

“From management of recreational facilities and nature reserves to community halls and showgrounds, many are setting the gold standard for volunteer work and these awards are a great opportunity to highlight, recognise and reward their efforts.”

Award nominations will remain open until August 21.

Judging will take place through September with the finalists announced at the end of September.

Winners will be announced on November 1 at the 2024 Community Achievement Awards gala presentation in Sydney.
