With winter fast approaching, it is important to make sure you and your children’s vaccinations are up to date.
Influenza (flu) is currently prolific in our community, so it is important to stay protected.
A flu vaccine is free* for children aged six months to under five years. The vaccine reduces the risk of you and your family getting seriously ill this chilly season.
Priority groups who can access free* flu vaccine, include:
- Children aged six months to under five years;
- People aged 65 and over;
- Aboriginal people from six months of age;
- Pregnant women; and
- Those with serious health conditions such as diabetes, cancer, immune disorders, obesity, severe asthma and kidney, heart, lung or liver disease.
It is recommended that everyone from six months of age up should get a flu shot.
You can help protect your family and the community this winter by:
- Getting a flu shot;
- Staying at home if you’re unwell; and
- Washing or sanitising your hands frequently.
Speak to your doctor, pharmacist, Aboriginal Medical Service or healthcare worker today to organise your flu shot.
