Michelle Desira became a health coach after her own journey to better health and discovering that there were more women out there like her.

Mums live on coffee for breakfast and the kids’ leftovers for lunch and that is not the way to do things according to Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Michelle Desira.

“A lot of women are not sure what is healthy or not,” Michelle said.

“There’s a lot of need out there.

“There’s a lot of confusion.

“I got into coaching out of the desire to help other women.

“I specialise in mums because the majority of mums are the ones that do the grocery shopping and prepare the meals.

“By helping mums, I’m helping families.

“It’s a domino effect.”

Michelle admits she had her own health struggles, being a mother of five children.

She felt depleted and worn out until she discovered a few simple strategies that started her on her journey to restored health.

Here are some of Michelle’s simple strategies for working mums:

  • Take regular breaks throughout the day to recharge your energy levels and reset for the next task. Just five minutes away from your workstation for a bit of sunshine or a mindfulness activity can help you maintain your focus and energy level.
  • Pack healthy snacks to nibble on throughout the day. Healthy eating effectively deals with hunger pangs and prevents unhealthy cravings during the afternoon. What’s another lunch box when you’re packing the kids’ school food? Great options include fresh fruit, unsalted nuts, hardboiled eggs or yoghurt with granola or berries mixed in.
  • Create family/work balance by setting, and sticking by, boundaries. Don’t be tempted to work during home time. This is important for good mental health as well as physical well-being.
  • Stay hydrated. A bottle of water on your desk to remind you to drink while working will ensure your body and mind will run smoothly.

Michelle said these small adjustments will help reduce stress levels and increase productivity, ultimately leading to improved physical and mental well-being.

When she isn’t helping other mums work toward their goals, Michelle is growing her own food, spending time with her family and reading self-help books.

Michelle lives in the Hills/Hawkesbury region with her family, three dogs and numerous chickens, she is passionate about using food as medicine and believes that anyone can achieve optimal health with proper support.
