The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) conducted a hazard reduction burn in Parr State Conservation Area last weekend.
An NPWS said the hazard reduction burn went extremely well.
“All burning was completed on Saturday, August 12, meeting the fuel reduction objective of the burn,” the spokesperson said.
“NPWS and NSW Rural Fire Service crews worked extremely well together to deliver this complex hazard reduction burn.”
The 130 hectare burn took place between Greens Road, Bicentenary Road and Chaseling Road South adjacent to properties in Lower Portland between Wisemans Ferry and Colo.
It commenced around 10 am and continued into the evening.
The burn was one of many hazard reduction operations undertaken by NPWS across the State, many with the assistance of the Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW.
Hazard reduction burns are essential to reduce bushfire loads to help protect parks, neighbours and communities from bushfires.
Visit the NSW Rural Fire Service website and the Hazards Near Me app and website for more information on hazard reduction activities.
