There can only ever be one winner, but finalist Phillip Close from Hawkesbury District Agricultural Association was recognised for his dedication to the Hawkesbury Showground in the recent AgShows NSW 2023 Awards.
A long-standing member and Director of HDAA, Phillip has played a crucial role in the development and management of the Hawkesbury Showground.
The Dedication Award recognises individuals who have displayed exceptional loyalty, commitment and dedication to their respective show societies.
Margaret Enright from the Hunter River Agricultural and Horticultural Association, Maitland was also a finalist.
AgShows NSW President, Jill Chapman said all three finalists deserved recognition.
“These exceptional individuals have demonstrated unwavering dedication to their Show Societies, contributing countless hours and invaluable expertise,” Ms Chapman said.
“They have played pivotal roles in organising successful shows, ensuring the ongoing financial stability and development of showgrounds, and supporting various community activities.”
Of course, the top gong for the 2023 Dedication Award was granted posthumously to Bowral Show Society’s Lyne Goulder.
Her award was received by her daughters.
There were over 50 nominations received for the awards night.
