Link Wentworth Hawkesbury site will celebrate 40 years of providing social housing in the region.

More than 100 former and current residents, staff, volunteers, partners and support workers will gather to celebrate Link Wentworth’s 40 years of providing social housing across Sydney, including in the Hawkesbury, today, from 12 pm to 2 pm at the Richmond Club.

From humble beginnings, Link Wentworth now manages more than 6,400 homes across Sydney, including 750 properties in the Hawkesbury, with homes in Richmond, South Windsor, Bligh Park and Wilberforce.

It also operates a Specialist Homelessness Service to help connect clients with support services to access long-term stable housing support.

Link Wentworth CEO, Andrew McAnulty said social housing was more important than ever as the cost of housing crises continued to pressure individuals and families.

“Link Wentworth is committed to working with local, state and federal governments and the private sector to make sure we secure funding for new and much-needed housing within the Hawkesbury region,” Mr McAnulty said.

“Now is the time to build upon our history and work with partners to do more.

“To address the need to provide better services for people under housing stress and experiencing homelessness we established the Hawkesbury Community Support Hub in May 2023.

“We run it in partnership with St Matthews Anglican Church in Windsor to provide a “one-stop shop” where people can access housing support, financial advice and disability assistance all under one roof.”

A not-for-profit, Link Wentworth has a long history in providing a range of services and homes in the region including the Hawkesbury’s first-ever refuge for women, children and their pets.

Following decades of advocacy, the four purpose-built, self-contained units were opened in May 2023 and the service is now expanding, with an addition of two independent apartments.

“Our service for women and children escaping domestic violence operates exclusively in the region, with specialist caseworkers providing up to 12 months intensive case management to support women and children to leave unsafe homes,” Mr McAnulty said.
