Hawkesbury Helping Hands Could Use Your Help

Karen Anne and Hawkesbury Helping Hands have a lot in common.

With everything that Hawkesbury Helping Hands does, they would be the first to acknowledge that they wouldn’t be able to half of what they do without donations from the community.

So, yet again, they are offering their thanks to the community with one hand and asking for more help with the other as temperatures drop for winter.

They need blankets, doonas, doona covers, comforters and throws, anything that people could use to ward off the chill.

The need is desperate, but please don’t donate stained and torn items or those that smell of pets or are covered in pet hair.

There are a lot of people out there who find it very difficult to accept charity of any sort, so let us help them keep their dignity.

Donated items can be dropped to Hawkesbury Helping Hands’ unit at Unit E, 28 Walker Street, South Windsor from Wednesday to Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm and Saturday and Sunday nights from 5 pm to 7:30 pm.

The team is in and out outside of those times but invites people to leave their goods under cover in front of the roller doors in a large cardboard tub.

Just recently, the team met a lovely woman who does what she can for the aged and animals in her community.

Of course, Hawkesbury Helping Hands did what they do best and offered to lend a hand.

The lady, known as Karen Anne, visits and collects donations for the elderly in her free time.

Helping Hands shared some hand-knitted and crocheted rugs, blankets, beanies and scarves along with some Lindt chocolates.

They thanked Karen for doing her bit to help others. Karen Ann thanked them, and said she was happy she could put a smile on people’s faces and let the elderly know they are valued and not forgotten.
