HART Youth Plans Its First Drama Showcase
Young creatives who performed in last year’s HART Youth Showcase are welcome to register for the group’s first ever Drama Showcase now.
HART Youth has endeared itself so much to the Hawkesbury community that it is easy to forget that they are relatively new players to the artistic and cultural community.
So impressed was Griffith City Council with HART Youth’s efforts with Youthfest earlier in the year, they have sponsored the group present their first ever Drama Showcase.
Spokesman for HART Youth, Jasmine Yuen-Carrucan said the sponsorship was through the Community Sponsorship Program.
“We worked with Alison Becroft from the Community Planning and Partnership sector of the Council for Youthfest earlier in the year,” Ms Yuen-Carrucan said.
“HART Youth were able to give many of the performers from last year’s showcase a chance to get back on stage and perform at Youthfest, which was really fantastic.
“Being invited to participate in a local event like that has been a great incentive for us to keep moving forward.
“The Drama Showcase is part of that.
“It’s meant to be a low stakes night, where a young performer can get up on stage and share some drama with family and friends.
“We’re also hoping it’s an opportunity for any high school drama students to give their class performances another go outside of the classroom.
“In that regard, we so far have performances from Colo HSC students, but we’re always looking for more.”
Anyone under the age of 25, who would like to get up on stage and share a dramatic performance with a community audience can complete an entry form on HART Youth’s website at https://www.hartyouth.com/hart-drama-showcase
Whether it’s a monologue or group performance, musical theatre or a slapstick piece, it’s all welcome, but it is limited to a maximum of 15 minutes for each piece.
The event, at the Richmond RSL on October 6 from 6 pm is free for performers to enter and for community audiences to watch.
