Target Country located in George St Windsor will soon be undergoing a conversion to a Kmart Hub in early-mid 2021. K-Hub is a newly modified version of the traditional Kmart stores, offering curated collections of the popular ranges in the categories of kids, home and clothing.
Parent company Wesfarmers identified in a business analysis report the changing dynamics of the retail landscape, leading to the decision to close or convert Target and Target Country stores nationwide. 75 stores will be permanently closed at their locations, including 10-25 Target stores and 50 Target Country stores. 80 stores have been selected to convert into Kmart or Kmart Hub, with the Windsor location being granted the latter. Current staff members at Target stores will be given consideration for employment during the transition period. The announcement will be perceived as a victory for over 2000 locals who have petitioned over the past few years on the ‘Bring Kmart to Windsor NSW’ facebook page for the opening of Kmart within the region.
