Art in Nature fosters young people’s connection to nature through art Submissions open Feb 1 – Feb 28
Sisters Grimm, an MBE-awarded and Grammy-nominated creative production company, is inviting young Australians to take part in its latest not-for-profit initiative, Australia Art in Nature.
Australia Art in Nature will showcase artworks of Australian children and youth through an online art gallery and in a brand-new music video that will be created and released on 22 March 2022 for World Water Day.
Art in Nature, which first debuted in United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2021 and amassed more than 3.5 million YouTube views, encourages young people to connect to nature by creating an art piece that represents their experience with nature, whether it be the environment, animals, plants or habitats.
A digital photo of every submission is displayed on the specially created website and one chosen artwork will go on to be the hero image of the project. This and other artworks will also feature in an animated video.
Curated by Sisters Grimm, the music video will feature an animated sequence of chosen artworks and draw inspiration from Australia’s natural landscapes. The video will also be accompanied by an original song composed by co-founder of Sisters Grimm, Ella Spira MBE and Australian singer-songwriter Corinne Gibbons. The soundtrack will also feature Aboriginal Elder and activist Oswald "Ossie" Cruse MBE AM.
“The environment is a cause close to our hearts, and Australia is a truly remarkable country when it comes to nature. Engaging children and young adults with nature to help with mental and physical health through art is important and we are so thrilled to come to Australia and launch our Art in Nature project here”, said Sisters Grimm co-founder Pietra Mello-Pittman MBE.
Australian Art in Nature is free to enter and open to all Australians under the age of 18. All submissions will receive a signed certification of participation.
Australia Art in Nature has been commissioned by STFC UK/Australia Agroclimate Space Programme.
Submissions are now open and close midnight, 28 February 2022 ADST.
