The Pitt Town Progress Association has been established as a working community group for over 100 years or more.
Currently in operation with 300 members, the President Peter Ryan, together with Vice President Steven Brown and Secretary Vince Rayfield, lead the not-for-profit with the aim of representing the community with Local and State Governments in regards to improvements and delivery of community facilities and infrastructure.
The latest project that the Association has been instrumental in driving is the delivery of the the toilets at Bona Vista Park. "The Park is situated in the middle of Pitt Town and is part of the residential area," Vince Rayfield explains.
"It was an underdelivered facility that was required for the residents of Pitt Town, and we have been lobbying for quite some time."
Robyn Preston MP and Hawkesbury City Council provided the much needed funding for a collective amount of $120,000 to deliver the construction of the unisex touch free toilets, complete with baby change tables and disability access.
Bona Visa Park is mainly used by local residents, and the growing number of young families who use the Park for BBQs and play areas will now have the facilities to accomodate longer stays and use the Park as it was intended.
The Pitt Town Progress Association works in two main groups; one addressing Local Government issues, the other State Government. Some items that the Association have been addressing is the Pitt Town By-Pass, the widening of Pitt Town Road between McGraths Hill and Pitt Town, upgrades to intersections on that same road and the upgrade of Mulgrave Station Car Park.
